The project has been covered extensively by the media and won a national railway heritage award and a RICS enterprise award.

Robin is extensively involved in a series of mixed use urban regeneration projects including retirement villages and has been involved in the strategic regeneration strategy of Network Rail land holdings at VNEB (Vauxhall Nine Elms and Battersea) which is one of the largest regeneration areas in London since Kings Cross. Mervyn Allcock

Mervyn is highly regarded within the railway industry since he led the efforts to save Barrow Hill Roundhouse near Chesterfield in 1998. His farsighted plan to reinvent the former BR depot into one of the UK’s centres of excellence for railway engineering is a business model that has since been used by several other organisations.

The original buildings have been completely restored whilst navigating listed building requirements and surplus land has been imaginatively developed with the construction of new buildings for use by commercial and heritage organisations. Barrow Hill provides facilities for several major railway companies including DRS, GBRf, Freightliner and Colas, is a base for the railway research company NewRail, part of Newcastle University, a railway infrastructure training centre for Doncaster-based Intertrain and the home of the Deltic Preservation Society.

Mervyn’s excellent operational and planning capabilities combined with his diverse commercial experience will be a great asset to Railway Property Regeneration’s clients.
